Owl Point

We've been coming up to Blue Hill for years; our family has a farm nearby. But we found ourselves on Allen Point almost by mistake. We didn't think we'd end up here, yet every time we left we couldn't get it out of our minds. There's something calming and rejuvenating about the land.

Sit on the porch and watch swallows, kingfishers and martins swoop in and out of the many bird houses on the property. Or walk down to the shore and drink a cup of coffee as you watch the herons, ducks, and a lone bald eagle soar across the water.

Spend a little time here and you start to slow down.

And yet, you're not far from all kinds of fun. We love to take the dogs (we've got a border collie, Darcy, and a cattle dog, Mitsi, who love to hike) to Acadia and finish up sitting outside with them for lunch at Jordan Pond House. Or we'll all jump in a canoe and paddle down the pond. There's a little island just down the pond with a great  sand beach (a rarity in Maine!).

On weekends, we're usually meeting up with friends at the Blue Hill Wine Shop for their weekly wine bar (dogs stay at home). We also love entertaining at the house. The kitchen is set up to cook for groups and there's enough room to spread out and move from cocktails to dinner to late-night conversations on the porch.

We love the point. It's a magical mix of peaceful seclusion and the best of the area. We hope you love it as much as we do.
